The results were as follows: 1. The ratio of males to females was 1:2.7. The age of the cases at operation ranged from 16 to 42 years, with a mean of 22.3 years. 2. All of clinical diagnosis was mandibular prognathism and 14 0f them were associated with open bite and/or mandibular asymmetry. 3. The predominant chief complaint was esthetic disturbance. 4. Twenty eight cases (84.8%) underwent sagittal splitting ramus osteotomy (SSRO), and the other cases with severe maxillofacial deformity underwent simultaneously Le Fort I osteotomy of the maxilla with SSRO. 5. 0rthognathic surgeries performed at our clinic have been approached perorally, so the incision of facial skin was not needed. 6. The number of operations have increased in recent years. 7. The average blood loss was 510 ml with SSRO and 750 ml with Le Fort I osteotomy with SSRO. The average operation time was 223 minutes in the former and 356 minutes in the latter. 8.
