A significant decrease in plasma corticosteroid level and enhancement of antibody production were observed after the onset of noise stress. Decrease in CD4^-/CD8^- (double negative) immature cells in the thymus and increase in CD4^+/CD8^- (helper type) mature cells in both thymus and spleen were also observed, suggesting that activation of helper T cell differentiation in thymus occurred in the stressed rats.
