Out of the 735 houses on the island, 418 were randomly selected for questionnaire survey regarding utihzation of well water. The number of common species of bacterium, and the presence of E. coli group in well water were examined for 32 private and two common wells situated in Izena and Nakada Villages. From the survey, it was clear that all houses had another water source provided by public water service. About 83% of 247 houses of the respondents had wells in the yard and/or stored rain water in tanks; 87% used well and/or tank water. It also became clear that in 66.1% of houses examined, well and tank water constituted half the volume of the water consumed in each house. About 85% of the houses used well and tank water as drinking water; 33.8% of the houses did not boil the water. The number of wells with over 100 bacteria of common species per ml of water was 14 (43.8%) out of the 34 wells including the 2 common wells. Among the 34 wells, E. coli group was found in 6 wells (17.6%). The number of common species bacterium was not significantly different among areas of lzena Island., 論文}, pages = {71--75}, title = {[原著]沖縄県伊是名島における井戸水の利用と細菌学的調査}, volume = {20} }
