The suicide rate was calculated by the Standardized Mortality Ratio (SMR) in each local area of Okinawa Prefecture. The number of suicide deaths in each generational class was summarized using the Okinawa Health Statistics Annual Report (1998-2002). Population data were quoted from the 2000 National Census. The SMR of all the municipalities were analyzed separately for males, females and the whole subject population from 1998 to 2002. Statistical analyses were performed using Chi- Square and Poisson test. Correlation coefficients between the social indices and the SMR values were also calculated. Result: The SMR of suicide in Ogimi-village was the highest, while those in Irabu-town, Tomigusuku-city, and le-village were relatively lower. Among all the social indices, the rate of psychiatric treatment at clinics and hospitals using national insurance showed the highest correlation with the SMR value (males: r=0.438, females: r=0.491, total: r=0.520). In the future, suicide prevention measures, confined with the actual condition of the area, will be required in Ogimi- village where the SMR is as high as 2.48 (male:1.69, female :5.67)., 論文}, pages = {149--154}, title = {[原著]沖縄県における市町村別自殺死亡の地域差とその要因に関する研究}, volume = {23} }
