The hematological changes obtained were as follows: the mean activity of AT-III was decreased in patients bitten by Ophiophagus hannah (Oh.), Bungarus fasciatus (Bf.), Hydrophis cyanocinctus (Hc.), Rhabdophis subminiatus (Rs.), Trimeresurus stejnegeri (Ts.), the mean activity of $ \\alpha $_2-PI was also decreased in all patients in the present study; Fg was not detectable in Rs. bite, while Fg concentration in Ts., Oh., He. and Bf. bites markedly decreased. The mean levels of FDP were therefore increased in all patients. Thus, it appears that DIC-like syndrome would be seen in patients envenomed by snakebites. In this study, we found that the patients who were bitten by Rs. which is still being classified as a non-venomous snake showed complete defibrinogenation syndrome with severe hemorrhage without any evidence of severe multiple organ damage. We also found that the patients of Ts. bite showed marked hemostatic disturbance without severe multiple organ damage as well as Rs. bite.
