We divided our patients into three groups and observed their clinical features. Group I consisted of the 2,868 Ryukyu University students who were presumably healthy and who came for group examination by us in 1979. We found cases of persistent proteinuria in 19 students or 0.66% of the total students examined. We presented a suspected 1gA nephropathy in one student and a hydronephrosis in another. Group II comprised 224 primary renal disease patients or 5.6% of the total 3,975 who consulted our Out-Patient Department in 1978. We listed the clinical diagnosis and frequencies of renal dises after closer examinations. We presented the clinical courses, of acute glomeruloriephritis and nephrotic syndrome in some of the 224 patients. Group III consisted of the 75 patients under hemodialysis treatment in an Okinawan hospital or 33.6% of the total 223 hemodialysis treatment patients in Okinawa prefecture as of October 1979. We examined the causal diseases and their frequencies in the 75 patients of chronic renal failure. We presented a case of chronic renal failure developed gradually from chronic glomerulonephritis and a case of recovery form malignant hypertensive oliguric renal failure.
