Age, sex, operative findings, operative procedure, histologic diagnosis and clinical results of these patients are shown in table 1, 2 and 3. Type of operation performed in this study is shown in table 4. In four patients, combined resection of the portal vein was performed. At the first patient, wedge resection of the portal vein and at second, third and fourth patients complete resection and end to end anastomosis of the portal vein were performed, respectively, (table 4) All of the selective superior mesenteric angiograms of these four patients after the operation revealed patent anastomosis of the portal vein showing intrahepatic portal vein clearly. Immediate morbidity after operation is shown in table 5. Follow up study of those 19 patients at whem the operation was tolerated well is shown in table6. There are two patients with cancer of the pancreas, who are well without sign of recurrent cancer over three years after the operation. Pathologic findings of one of these two patients revealed acinar cell carcinoma and that of another revealed cystadenocarcinoma.
