However early pathological diagnosis of the adenocarcmoma in this gland is cardinal due to the fact the pathological stages actually decide the method of treatment and the prognosis. In adult prostatism, initial screening (of the patients) for three major components namely prostatitis, BPH and the adenocarcinoma is being done with digital examination per rectum with accuracy of 70-80%. Also other tests and history would help in clinical diagnosis. Wnen one suspects the carcinoma, a biopsy for histological diagnosis is to be carried out. It is said that proper treatments done on early stage prostatic cardmoma diagnosed histologically yields excellent results of 95% five and ten years survival rate against the control groupe of same age. However, in reality, 80% of this carcinoma patients are first diagnosed in advanced states and being treated with palliative TUR-P, irradiation, estrogen, chemothrapy and immunotherapy in various combinations at most leading centers with imoroving results.
