 note = {The dissolution of gallstones was studied in 43 patients who were given 300 mg or 600 mg of Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) per day for an average of 11 months. The gallstones completely disappeared in one case and reduced in size or in number in 12 cases. As a result, UDCA proved effective in 13 of 43 patients (30.2%). The small floating gallstone was most effective on UDCA therapy. No remarkable side effect was observed except that transient loose stool was observed in one case. The present study indicates that if suitable patients are selected, UDCA will be an effective gallstone dissolving agent., 論文},
