Satistical stdy on diabetics with pulmonary tuberculosis, admitting during March, 1979 in Okinawa National Hospital is reported. Twenty five patients with diabetes mellitus were diagnosed among 232 pulmonary tuberculous patients in admission. The complication rate is found to be 10.7%, and the frequency of complication in male patients is higher than that of females. The frequenccy of diabetes mellitus preceded by tuberculosis is found to be 72%. This result suggests that diabetics tend to have pulmonary tuberculosis. The charactenstic findings of chest X-ray in pulmonary tuberculosis with diabetes millitus are 1) homogenous exsudative shadow, 2) unusal localization of tuberculous lesion such as S-8, S-9, S-10, and 3) formation of polyfollicular cavity. The frequency of slender diabetic patients was much higher than that of obese patients. Furthermore, the studies of the secretion of C-peptide and the freguency of triopathy are reported and discussed. |
