The ratio of the male to the female was 2.7 to 1. 3) There were 45 cases (31.7%) caused by traffic accident, 38 cases (26.8%) by fist blow, and 18 cases (12.7%) by overturning. Nearly 30% of these cases were involved in alcohol drinking. 4) Forty-six cases (32.4%) of all patients visited our hospital within 24 hours, 40 cases (28.2%) within three days, and so on. The fresh fractures injuried within two weeks were 120 cases (85%). The remaining cases were old fractures. 5) Fifty-seven cases (40.1%) were referred to us from private dental clinics, 26 cases (18.3%) from first-aid hospitals, 25 cases (17.6%) from prefectural hospitals, and so on. 6) Of all the facial fractures, 93 case (65.5%) were found in mandible, 37 cases (26.0%) in maxilla (including the middle third facial region), 12 cases (8.5%) in the combined mandible and maxilla. The fractures of the bodies of the mandible, the maxilla and the middle third facial region were 120 cases (71.8%). The fractures of the alveolar procces of the mandible and the maxilla were 40 cases (28.2%). Regarding the fractures of the bodies, 77 cases were found in the mandible, 18 cases in the maxilla (including the middle third facial region), 7 cases in the combined mandible and maxilla. 7) In the region of the mandible, most frequent fractures were found in the region of the molar and the angle, second frequent in the mcisal region and third frequent in the region of the condylar process. According to the Le Fort classification (including unilateral fractures), there were 5 cases of Le Fort II, 8 cases of Le Fort III. Unilateral fractures of the zygoma were seen in 10 cases. 8) Sixty-one cases (72.6%) of the mandibular fractures were resulted from the direct force, and most of the fractures of the maxilla from the direct force. 9) The complications of 351 cases were observed in our cases on the sites of associated injuries, 87 cases were found in the oral mucosa, 82 cases in the teeth, 76 cases in the facial skin, and so on.
