The vesical arteries isolateral to the tumor location were superselectively embolized with the pasty mixture of gelfoam powder and cotrast medium including anticancer agents. Bleomy cin was used in a case with squamous cell carcinoma and adriamycin was used in the other case with transitional cell carcinoma. In the results, superselective chemoembolization showed definite anticancer effect evidenced by complete disappearance of a large transitional cell carcinoma and marked necrotic change in a squamous cell carcinoma without evidential side effects and impairment of the baldder function. An additional advantage of this method is that it is easily accessible treatment modality when the highly sophisticated angiodiagnostic procedure is achieved.
