Despite the importance of the quality maintenance during handling and transportation, the technique of handling at the airport and air transportation have not been sufficiently developed. Sometimes fresh fruits, vegetables and cut flowers were deteriorated in hot summer under the influence of the vital heat. The frequency of reshipment during air shipment was greater than that during surface transportation. Shock during air shipment was received in a short time. Most air freight containers have a poor ventilation characteristic due to its water proof constructions and are not suitable for fresh agricultural products.
