We observed that katama was circular or oval in a plan view, and linked to open sea by some narrow grooves. The floor was covered with numerous flat gravels or/and boulders, 5 to 30 cm in diameter. There were small organisms (e.g., Porifera,Ectoprocta, Mollusca, Crustacea, Echinodermata and Ascidiacea) under the gravels/boulders. According to ourinterview with fishermen, fishes turn the gravels and feed these kinds of small organisms. It shows that fishermen have recognized katama as important fishing grounds with their traditional ecological knowledge. In recent studies, gravel-bed environment (the floor covered with numerous flat gravels or/and boulders) has been noted as important microhabitat of biodiversity in coral reef, especially its function as the feeding ground for fishes. By our interview and literature investigation (e.g., Nanto-Zatsuwa, an ancient document written approximately 130 years ago), it is clarified that local fishermen have recognized katama as microhabitat for small organisms, and have been used it as an important fshing ground over many generations. However, the importance of gravel-bed environment has just been attracted by scientists on reef study or marine biology. It is necessary to reconsider the holistic conservation measures of coral reef, with understanding the gravel-bed environment as microhabitat for small organisms.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_1617186643794":{"attribute_name":"Publisher","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522300295150":"ja","subitem_1522300316516":"沖縄地理学会"},{"subitem_1522300295150":"en","subitem_1522300316516":"The Okinawa Geographical Society"}]},"item_1617186702042":{"attribute_name":"Language","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1551255818386":"jpn"}]},"item_1617186920753":{"attribute_name":"Source Identifier","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522646500366":"ISSN","subitem_1522646572813":"0916-6084"}]},"item_1617186941041":{"attribute_name":"Source Title","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522650068558":"ja","subitem_1522650091861":"沖縄地理"}]},"item_1617187056579":{"attribute_name":"Bibliographic Information","attribute_value_mlt":[{"bibliographicIssueNumber":"16","bibliographicPageEnd":"18","bibliographicPageStart":"1"}]},"item_1617258105262":{"attribute_name":"Resource Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_1617265215918":{"attribute_name":"Version Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522305645492":"VoR","subitem_1600292170262":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85"}]},"item_1617605131499":{"attribute_name":"File","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2022-02-24"}],"filename":"No16p001.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"3.8 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://u-ryukyu.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2017111/files/No16p001.pdf"},"version_id":"d590c81b-16e3-4e1f-9df6-8b754d3cda55"}]},"item_title":"礁前面の凹地「カタマ」の漁場としての生物地形学的評価","item_type_id":"15","owner":"14","path":["1642838412624","1645675977529"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2018-11-16"},"publish_date":"2018-11-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"2017111","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["礁前面の凹地「カタマ」の漁場としての生物地形学的評価"],"weko_creator_id":"14","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-22T01:35:40.620530+00:00"}
