This cross-sectional study was conducted using self-administered questionnaires from June to September 2009. A total of 982 female junior high school students were selected as analysis subjects. We investigated the relationship between eating behavior (Eating Attitude Test-26 Japanese version [EAT-26]), social value questionnaire about the family (refer to The Social Value Questionnaire [SVQJ) and gender roles and gender equality attitudes (The Scale of Egalitarian Sex Role Attitudes-Short [SESRA-S]). Four groups of disturbed eating behavior were determined based on the EAT-26 score (0 = Non tendency group, 1-4 = low group, 5-14 = medium group, and \u003e15 = high group). Subjects comprised 339 students in 7^th grade, 318 students in 8^th grade and 325 students in 9^th grade. When the eating disorder tendency between the grades of junior high school was compared, no significant differences were found. The results of factor analysis (promax rotation) of the social value questionnaire were classified into four factors. The first was \"Public decency\", the second was \"Stick to achievement\", the third was \"Dependent on parent\" and the fourth was \"Efforts for achievement\". Multiple comparison relationships between the social value questionnaire and EAT-26 found that the scores for \"Public decency\", \"Stick to achievement\", \"Efforts for achievement\" in the high group and medium group were significantly higher than the scores among subjects in the other groups. The results of a second factor analysis of SESRA-S were classified into three factors. The first was \"Traditional gender roles\", the second was \"Gender roles in parenting\" and the third was \"Independence of women\" The results of multiple comparison relationships between SESRA-S with gender and EAT-26 again showed that the scores for \"Gender roles in parenting\", \"Independence of women\" within the high group were significantly higher than the other groups. 内容記述 Introduction: The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between eating disorder tendency and social values, such as family values, gender roles, and gender equality attitudes associated with female junior high school students. Four groups of disturbed eating behavior were determined based on the EAT-26 score (0 = Non tendency group, 1-4 = low group, 5-14 = medium group, and >15 = high group). Subjects comprised 339 students in 7^th grade, 318 students in 8^th grade and 325 students in 9^th grade. When the eating disorder tendency between the grades of junior high school was compared, no significant differences were found. Multiple comparison relationships between the social value questionnaire and EAT-26 found that the scores for "Public decency", "Stick to achievement", "Efforts for achievement" in the high group and medium group were significantly higher than the scores among subjects in the other groups. The results of a second factor analysis of SESRA-S were classified into three factors. The first was "Traditional gender roles", the second was "Gender roles in parenting" and the third was "Independence of women" The results of multiple comparison relationships between SESRA-S with gender and EAT-26 again showed that the scores for "Gender roles in parenting", "Independence of women" within the high group were significantly higher than the other groups. These results suggest that perfectionism, over-adaptation to social trends can affect the eating disorder tendency of female junior high school students.
