Sixty nine family members agreed to participate in this research. For screening PTSD (posttraumatic stress disorder), we used Japanese version of IES-R (Impact of Event Scale-Revised). The highest score of the test is 88 and the score above 25 is considered to have high-risk PTSD. Sixty nine people was accounted for a high-risk group 39.1% (n= 27). Regards to comparison of the two groups in FBDS, the high-risk group was significantly higher in total sum of FBDS (family burden and distress scale), subjective burden and depression resulting from the patients illness. The comparison of high-risk group and low-risk group scores of SRS-18 showed that high-risk group was significantly higher in any of the following fields: total sum of SER-18, depression-anxiety, irritability-anger, and helplessness.
