Based on qualitative research and participatory observation, we provide evidence of fishing allocations from three small fishing communities on Lanyu Island. We demonstrate that the notion of equality in Tao culture is anticapitalist. More importantly, by analyzing community-based fishing allocations of the Tao, we identify two recognizable qualities—islandness and the culture of small fishers—that have not been discussed in recent studies of the indigenous Tao. We conclude that traditional means of production are essential for small island societies. To balance the economic development of small islands worldwide, researchers, scholars, and policymakers should learn more about these small fisheries.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_1617186643794":{"attribute_name":"Publisher","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522300295150":"en","subitem_1522300316516":"Research Institute for Islands and Sustainability"}]},"item_1617186702042":{"attribute_name":"Language","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1551255818386":"eng"}]},"item_1617186783814":{"attribute_name":"Identifier","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_type":"HDL"}]},"item_1617186819068":{"attribute_name":"Identifier Registration","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.24564/0002017827","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_1617186920753":{"attribute_name":"Source Identifier","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522646500366":"EISSN","subitem_1522646572813":"2435-3302"},{"subitem_1522646500366":"PISSN","subitem_1522646572813":"2435-3310"}]},"item_1617186941041":{"attribute_name":"Source Title","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522650068558":"en","subitem_1522650091861":"Okinawan Journal of Island Studies"}]},"item_1617187056579":{"attribute_name":"Bibliographic Information","attribute_value_mlt":[{"bibliographicIssueDates":{"bibliographicIssueDate":"2022-03","bibliographicIssueDateType":"Issued"},"bibliographicIssueNumber":"1","bibliographicPageEnd":"114","bibliographicPageStart":"97","bibliographicVolumeNumber":"3"}]},"item_1617258105262":{"attribute_name":"Resource Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_1617265215918":{"attribute_name":"Version Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522305645492":"VoR","subitem_1600292170262":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85"}]},"item_1617605131499":{"attribute_name":"File","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2022-03-17"}],"filename":"[097-114].pdf","filesize":[{"value":"3.2 MB"}],"mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"objectType":"fulltext","url":"https://u-ryukyu.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2017827/files/[097-114].pdf"},"version_id":"11425c34-3a4f-416b-a351-522c140b2c54"}]},"item_title":"Defining “Tao-Style” Equality of Fishing Allocations as the Small-Scale Fishing Cultural Heritage in Lanyu, Taiwan","item_type_id":"59","owner":"11","path":["1647397657031","1642838412624"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2022-03-17"},"publish_date":"2022-03-17","publish_status":"0","recid":"2017827","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Defining “Tao-Style” Equality of Fishing Allocations as the Small-Scale Fishing Cultural Heritage in Lanyu, Taiwan"],"weko_creator_id":"11","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2022-11-24T06:58:31.220613+00:00"}
