Along with this situation, building a framework that contributes to human resource development, education, and evaluation of high-skilled foreign personnel has become an urgent issue. We are building a “Business Japanese Framework” (BJFW). To build up BJFW, we have rewritten and added can-do statements of existing scales such as CEFR 2001 as business tasks and have already registered about 800 items in our can-do statements bank.\nIn 2018, the CEFR Companion-volume with new descriptors was published, adding a new definition and can-do statements for the “Online interaction” skills. It indicates the importance of “Online interaction” in a multilingual and multicultural society. However, a set of can-do statements for online activities using the Japanese language does not exist. Therefore, we created new 20 items of can-do statements for BJFW related to online communication by excerpting and rewriting 47 can-do statements shown in the CEFR Companion volume.\nWe are currently facing a pandemic due to the spread of the new Coronavirus, and opportunities for high-skilled foreign personnel to engage in online operations such as telework are increasing. We conducted a fact-finding survey on the situation surrounding online operations involving high-skilled foreign personnel using the newly constructed can-do statements. We conducted unstructured interviews with four high-skilled foreign personnel as well.
