Research Design and Methods: Examinees are students of the science department and the English department at Okinawa Prefectural K Senior High School. They were asked to take a reading test every month from May to December and recorded their reading speed. In their daily English classes, they practiced shadowing using their English textbooks and some workbooks for listening practice for L2 learners. Results: Listening training such as shadowing has a positive effect on how quickly and accurately L2 learners will be able to read. If they perform well in shadowing, they tend to succeed in reading not only fast but accurately, and vice versa. Shadowing enhances the speed of phonological coding in learners’ brain and help them deal with both listening and reading comprehension faster and better. Discussion and Implications: In this research, only shadowing was introduced to improve reading speed and accuracy. There might be more interesting factors in comparison with dictation or other listening training. Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALP) might also have some influence on the improvement of reading speed and accuracy.}, pages = {185--195}, title = {リスニングトレーニングがもたらす読解力への効果 ―シャドーイングを通した速読力の向上に関する検証―}, year = {2022} }
