With the publication of “Why Island Feminism?” (Karides 2017), conference sessions, and the establishment of the Island Feminisms Spring Series, begun in 2020, the co-founders suggest that the field of island studies was guided towards gender and women (see Gender and Island Communities 2020, edited by Gaini and Nielsen as an example). However, they argue that the field continues to struggle to incorporate feminist and intersectional frameworks analytically. Karides and Rodríguez-Coss explore the paucity of feminist grounding in island studies, which tends towards the approach of “add women and stir.” Their dialogue reveals grassroots island activism as the core of island feminisms, which they identify as a social justice project.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_1617186643794":{"attribute_name":"Publisher","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522300295150":"en","subitem_1522300316516":"Research Institute for Islands and Sustainability"}]},"item_1617186702042":{"attribute_name":"Language","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1551255818386":"eng"}]},"item_1617186819068":{"attribute_name":"Identifier Registration","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.24564/0002019693","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_1617186920753":{"attribute_name":"Source Identifier","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522646500366":"EISSN","subitem_1522646572813":"2435-3302"},{"subitem_1522646500366":"PISSN","subitem_1522646572813":"2435-3310"}]},"item_1617186941041":{"attribute_name":"Source Title","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522650068558":"en","subitem_1522650091861":"Okinawan Journal of Island Studies"}]},"item_1617187056579":{"attribute_name":"Bibliographic Information","attribute_value_mlt":[{"bibliographicIssueDates":{"bibliographicIssueDate":"2023-05-15","bibliographicIssueDateType":"Issued"},"bibliographicIssueNumber":"2","bibliographicPageEnd":"197","bibliographicPageStart":"189","bibliographicVolumeNumber":"4"}]},"item_1617258105262":{"attribute_name":"Resource Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_1617265215918":{"attribute_name":"Version Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_1522305645492":"VoR","subitem_1600292170262":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85"}]},"item_1617605131499":{"attribute_name":"File","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2023-05-29"}],"filename":"[OJIS.4.2.CuratedInterview] Karides&Rodríguez-Coss.TheIslandFeminismsProject.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"237 KB"}],"format":"application/pdf","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://u-ryukyu.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2019693/files/[OJIS.4.2.CuratedInterview] Karides&Rodríguez-Coss.TheIslandFeminismsProject.pdf"},"version_id":"8a251848-f99d-4e6b-b576-918afb7c9bee"}]},"item_title":"The Island Feminisms Project : Imagined Through Social Justice and Praxis","item_type_id":"59","owner":"14","path":["1642838412624","1678774886150"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2023-05-15"},"publish_date":"2023-05-15","publish_status":"0","recid":"2019693","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["The Island Feminisms Project : Imagined Through Social Justice and Praxis"],"weko_creator_id":"14","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-30T01:07:32.754685+00:00"}
