Research Design and Methods: Examinees are students of the science department at Okinawa Prefectural K Senior High School. They took an English composition class from April to July in 2022 and took a pre-writing test and post-writing test. These tests were evaluated by two American ALTs according to the criteria introduced by Ferris & Hedgcock(1998). English composition instruction was provided once a week for one hour. One class was taught through data reading and English composition incorporating data analysis, and the other class was taught through writing an essay and receiving some instructions from a teacher. Results: Through data reading and English composition incorporating data analysis, students will be able to write more logical and persuasive English composition. Additionally, the total number of words in their essays will increase. Discussion and Implications: In this research, the writing ability of students’ first language (L1) and Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency(CALP) of each student were not considered as factors that might affect their coherence and logical expressions in essays.
