Alkaline pretreatment of the substrate improved the gas evolution from bagasse. The most favorable concentration of NaOH solution and loading of treated bagasse were 0.5 (w/v) and 0.5g (dry wet.), respectively. The gas production from the alkaline-treated bagasse was 1.8 times higher than that from the untreated bagasse. The total gas evolution from alkaline-treated bagasse was 540ml per g of dry substrate with a methane ratio of 63% in 10 days of fermentation. Acetic, propionic and butyric acids accumulated in the mash after 4 days of fermentation and the decreased gradually during further fermentation. The gas evolution from 5%-NaCIO_2-treated bagasse was 2.1 times higher than that from the untreated bagasse and methane content was 69%. 内容記述 各種前処理バガスの嫌気発酵を行ない, ガス発生量について調べるとともに, アルカリ処理バガスを基質とした発酵におけるメタンガス発生条件等について調べた。無処理, 熱水処理及びアルカリ処理バガスを基質としたメタン発酵を行なった結果, アルカリ処理バガスを基質とした発酵では, 無処理及び熱水処理バガスの約1.8倍のガス発生量を示した。ガス発生量からみた最適アルカリ処理濃度は0.5%(W/V)であり, 0.5%NaOH処理バガス1g当りのガス発生量は発酵10日間で540mlであり, メタン含量は63%であった。5%次亜塩素酸ナトリウム処理バガスを基質とした発酵では, 無処理バガスの約2.1倍のガス発生量がみられ, メタン含量は69%であった。バガスから調製したバガスホロセルロース, ヘミセルロース及びセルロースを基質とした発酵では, 基質1g当り560∿600mlのガス発生量がみられ, メタン含量は63∿67%であった。
