The results were summarized as follows : 1. In the fertilized condition (four hundred times the nutrient liquid, pF1.8), growth of seedlings was 120-130 percent of the control (non-fertilized, pF1.8). Effects of fertilization occured in increased number of internode (Table 1 and 3). 2. In the dry soil moisture conditions past the growth hindrance point (pF3.0), early growth of seedlings decreased markedly. Elongation and weight growth were about 20-30 percent of the control, and diameter growth was about 50 percent (Table 3). 3. Under the dry soil moisture conditions, foliage of seedlings changed morphologically. The average length of main rachis, rachis and leaflet decreased (Table 3). Foliage changed into dwarf type to resist extreme water stress. 4. Seedlings remained alive for one month under the permanent wilting point of soil moisture content, and then new shoots sprouted less than three weeks after rewatering. 5. It can be concluded that growth of L. latisiliqua seedlings is controlled markedly under extreme water stress by dry soil moisture potentials past the growth hindrance piont (pF3.0). 内容記述 1. ギンゴウカンの初期生長(発芽後6ケ月間)に及ぼす土壌水分量及び施肥の影響について, 1981年5月より11月までの間に, 本学構内のガラス室において実験を行った。2. 市販の肥培液の400倍液の施用によって, 対照区と比較して20∿30%の生長増がみられた。施肥は節間数及び葉数を増加させるのみならず葉の大きさにも影響を及ぼした。3. 土壌水分張力が生長阻害水分点以上となり水ストレスが生じると, 生長が著しく抑制された。対照区と比較すると, pF3.0区で伸長, 重量生長は70%, 肥大生長は50%の減であり, pF3.5区では各々85∿90%, 50%の減であった。生長初期の実生苗では葉の占める割合が大きいが, 水ストレスの影響は葉数及び葉軸数の減少, 羽軸長, 葉軸長及び小葉長の短小化にあらわれ, 葉が矮生化した。4. 3ケ月生実生苗の培土を自然乾燥させ永久萎凋点以上の状態に1ケ月間管理した場合, シュート上部は枯死したがシュート下部及び根系は生存し, 再び給水した場合萠芽し, 伸長しはじめた。5. ギンゴウカン実生苗の生長は土壌水分が生長阻害水分点以上になると著しく抑制されるが, 個体維持の面では永久萎凋点以上で1ケ月間の水ストレスに耐え, シュート下部と根系は強い耐乾性を示した。
