内容記述 Reports of experimental toxoplasmosis in chickens have been published by several workers, however, there is no one who investigated systematically the fluctuation of susceptibility in different ages of toxoplasmic infection. Pertaining to this point, experiments are performed with the RH strain of Toxoplasma gondii infection being induced by a variety of routes, using adult, middle age, one-day old chickens and developing eggs. In respect to their susceptibilities, the author made his investigations from clinical and serological as well as parasitological points of view. As the first part of the experiments, the behavior of 8 adult laying hens against intraperitoneal Tp infection was conducted. The results are summarized as follows : 1) The susceptibility of the adult chickens to toxoplasmic infection was found to be low. All showed inapparent infection even when large doses such as 100,000 parasites were inoculated. 2) However, it is clear that the infections were established. Parasitemia occurred in 7 out of 8 chickens as early as the 2nd day of infection and usually persisted for 3-4 days. 3) A dye test and a complement fixation inhibition test antibody was detected in low titers, however, regardless of such low titers, the chickens, showed very strong resistance to reinoculation with considerable large doses such as 15 millions Tp when tested on the 76th day of infection. 4) It is not clear whether the Tp infection have an influence on rate of egg production, however, Tp transmission into an egg was demonstrated. 5) Chickens were autopsied from 35 to 260 days after infection and were examined by naked eyes. No significant changes, other than slight swelling of the livers, were observed. And also no Tp organisms could be detected from the chickens organs neither in smear nor in mouse inoculation.
