内容記述 舞踊の過程は,創作者・演舞者・鑑賞者を要素として構成される。この過程は伝達過程とみなしうる。この時, 基本的には演舞者の構成する「動きmovement」によって,舞踊の「趣意import/意味meaning」は伝達される(金城・大城1974,1975)。Langer (1953) によれば,「すべての舞踊的動きは身振りである All dancemotion is 「gesture」 (P.174),そして「身振りとは,それによって舞踊的幻影を作り、組織することのできる基本的な抽象物であるJ」(P.174)という。動きそのものは物理的な現実である。現実の動きは舞踊的動きに抽象される。すなわち動きは舞踊の構成要素であり素材である。ただしLanger (1953) が主張するごとく「舞踊的身振りは現実の身振りではなく虚の身振りである」(P.178),そして「舞踊の本来的な幻影は力Powerの虚の領域である―ただしこの力というのは物理的に実際に生み出されたものではなく,虚の身振りによって創造された影響とか作用の現われである」(P.175) と,ランガーは述べている。ランガーは,「虚」と「実」を対比させつつ,舞踊の特性が「虚の力」として抽象できることを示したものと思われる。かくして,ランガーの所説によれば,(1)「意識的な身振りは本質的な言語のように伝達である」(P.196),(2)「舞踊的身振りはシンボルであり,客観的である」(P.196)から,前者の「伝達性」に着目すれば, 舞踊コミュニケーション論として,また「シンボル」に着目すれば舞踊記号論,もしくは舞踊意味論として,「舞踊的身振り」の論を展開することが可能である。本研究の目的は,舞踊的身振り(舞踊作品・フレーズ)に対する連想実験を中心とした,作品特性の情報量(H価)による解釈のための試論である。
