| 内容記述 | Arcania tuberculata Bell, 1855 (Decapoda: Brachyura: Leucosiidae) is reported from Japan for the first time based on a male specimen collected from Okinawa Island, Ryukyu Archipelago. The present specimen greatly extends the geographical range of the species to the north. The distinguishing characters between A. tuberculata and two congeners, A. sagamiensis Sakai, 1969, and A. marinduquensis Komatsu, Manuel & Takeda, 2004, are also discussed. Although the shape of granules on the dorsal surface of the carapace and the appearance of the frontal margin were diagnostic characters between A. tuberculata and A. marinduquensis, the present study found that A. tuberculata has intraspecific variations in the abovementioned characters, which make difficult to differentiate the two species by these characters. Reappraisal of the identity and/or distinguishable characters of these two species are needed. | |||||||||
