It is easily predicted that the EABR waveform will change depending on the functional state of auditory pathways, but research data on analysis of waveform is insufficient. In this study, to examine the usefulness of EABR as a method of estimating retrocochlear function, two types of deaf models in guinea pigs were made, and the EABR of each model was observed. The results are as follows. 1. ETABR for intracochlear stimulation is better than that for round window stimulation with respect to minimal influence of direct electrical stimulus artifact and myogenic artifact without muscle relaxants, and of lower threshold. 2. On a spiral ganglion damaged model made by administration of kanamycin sulfate, amplitude significantly decreased (p\u003c0.001), interestingly, however, no significant change was recognized in latency and threshold compared to the EABR of the non-treated group. 3. 0n the other hand, on a cochlear nerve damaged model made by compression of the cochlear nerve, amplitude decreased (pく0.001), latency prolonged (pく0.001), and threshold elevated (pく0.001) significantly more than before compression. 4. When changes of amplitude, latency and threshold of e II on EABR are considered, it is possible to distinguish the spiral ganglion damage from cochlear nerve damage.
