The in vivo and in vitro measurements of membrane potentials have shown that the resting membrane potential is more depolarized, spontaneous electrical activity is more frequent, and responses to mechanical stimulation is more enhanced in the arteries of hypertensive model animals than in normotensive controls. In patch clamp experiments, L-type Ca^\u003c2+\u003e channel currents, BK_ca channel currents, and stretch activated cation currents are more enhanced, and K_v channel currents are more suppressed in arterial smooth muscle cells of spontaneous hypertensive rats (SHR) than in Wistar Kyoto rats. Alterations in L-type Ca^\u003c2+\u003e channels, K_v channels and stretch activated channels contributes to the enhanced electrical activities in SHR arteries, while those in BK_ca channels suppress the excitability. 内容記述 | In controlling the vascular tone, membrane potential and ion channels have a pivotal role in the regulation of membrane excitation and Ca^<2+> flux in vascular smooth muscle cells. The in vivo and in vitro measurements of membrane potentials have shown that the resting membrane potential is more depolarized, spontaneous electrical activity is more frequent, and responses to mechanical stimulation is more enhanced in the arteries of hypertensive model animals than in normotensive controls. In patch clamp experiments, L-type Ca^<2+> channel currents, BK_ca channel currents, and stretch activated cation currents are more enhanced, and K_v channel currents are more suppressed in arterial smooth muscle cells of spontaneous hypertensive rats (SHR) than in Wistar Kyoto rats. Alterations in L-type Ca^<2+> channels, K_v channels and stretch activated channels contributes to the enhanced electrical activities in SHR arteries, while those in BK_ca channels suppress the excitability.
