2023 年10 月に沖縄島中部の比謝川において沖縄県では初めてとなるオイカワOpsariichthys platypus が採集された. その後,2023 年10 月から2024 年3 月にかけて比謝川流域に7 地点の調査地を設け, 採集と目視による調査を行なった. この調査では2 地点で様々な体長のオイカワが採集され, さらに4 地点で多数の個体が目視によって確認されたことから,比謝川において本種が大規模に繁殖･定着していることが示唆された. また, 16SrRNA 遺伝子,COI 遺伝子の部分塩基配列は日本産オイカワと高い相同性を示した. オイカワの比謝川への移入に関する要因を検討し, 特に観賞魚や肉食魚の生餌等の放流･遺棄の可能性が考えられたが,非常に多くの個体数が短期間で確認されたことから, 大規模な放流が行なわれたと考えられ,具体的な要因を絞り込むことは難しかった. 今後, 琉球列島の他河川へのオイカワの拡散を防ぐため, 沖縄県の条例に基づく沖縄県指定外来種への指定も視野に入れると共に, 同様の生活史をもつコイ科魚類も含めた早急な対策をしていく必要があると考えられる. |

In October 2023, Opsariichthys platypus, a species native to mainland Japan, was first collected in the Hija River, Okinawa Island. Additional surveys were conducted between October 2023 and March 2024 across seven study sites in the Hija River area. These surveys were conducted by both collecting specimens and visual inspections. Opsariichthys platypus specimens of various sizes were collected at two sites. Furthermore, 100–1000 individuals were visually confirmed at four sites. Molecular analyses of the 16S rRNA and COI genes demonstrated a substantial similarity between the collected specimens and those from mainland Japan, suggesting successful establishment after introduction in the Hija River. The introduction of O. platypus into the Hija River was theorized to have occurred due to one or more of eight potential factors, including the release of ornamental fish or bait fish for fishing. However, identifying specific factors was very difficult due to the rapid increase of the introduced O. platypus population. To prevent the potential spread of O. platypus to other rivers in the Ryukyu Archipelago, we aim for O. platypus to be designated by Okinawa Prefecture as an invasive species based on prefectural regulations. Additionally, an urgent approach to better manage and control family Cyprinidae species having similar life histories is needed. |
