内容記述 この報告は, パインアップルの耐干性について研究するために, 筆者が琉球大学構内において実験した結果をまとめたものである。実験は, スムースカイエン種の苗を, 川砂および国頭礫層の壌土を使って, ポット栽培して行なった。これらのポットに対して, かん水間隔を1日1回のものから約50日に1回のものまでについて, それぞれの株の葉の伸長量を測定し, さらにポット内の土壌の含水比の測定も行なった。これらの測定によって, 栄養生長期にあるパインアップルの耐干性を調べた。さらに, かん水間隔の異なる各ポットからの蒸散量の多少および生育の状況についても, 定性的な解析をした。この実験により次のことが明らかになった。(1)パインアップルは耐干性の強い作物であるが, かん水間隔が長くなって土壌水分が不足するとその栄養生長が遅れる。(2)パインアップルは, 壌土では含水比が10%前後でもある程度生長するが, 4∿5%になると生長はほとんど停止する。(3)パインアップルは, 土壌水分が非常に少ないときには, その根はほとんど枯死状態になるが, 再び水分を補給すると, 株は回復して再び生長を続ける。このとき, 栄養生長の速さも生殖生長の始まる時期も著しく遅れる。(4)土壌水分が多いときのパインアップルの蒸散量は, 土壌水分が少ないときの蒸散量よりも多くなる。
