平成15年度前期のまとめの活動として初級レベルの日本語クラスでプロジェクトワークを行った。中学校を訪問し, 留学生が自国について紹介するという活動である。本稿ではその過程について述べ, その後の留学生へのアンケート調査の結果をまとめ, 地域との交流をとおしたプロジェクトワークの試みの教育的効果や問題点を検討した。調査の結果, 留学生は今回のプロジェクトワークを高く評価していることがわかった。とくに, 教室で学んだ日本語を応用したり, 発表の技能を身に付けたりすることができたという言語技能が向上したという達成感が得られ, 日本の中学生について知り, また自国を紹介することで, 異文化理解が深まったと学習者が感じていることがわかった。一方で, 1) グループ活動として適切なテーマ設定だったか, 2) プロジェクトワークを行う時期として適切だったか, 3) 発表の技能の指導が十分だったか, といった問題点も明らかになった。 |

At the end of the spring semester of 2003, the basic-level students engaged in a project-work activity : they visited a junior high school and gave presentations on their own countries. This paper reports the results of questionnaire analysis and considers the educational effect of this kind of activity and its problem. The results clarified that the students highly evaluate this activity : they feel that (i) their command of Japanese have improved-they could use what they had learned in the classroom and they could learn how to give presentations in Japanese, and (ii) their intercultural understanding has deepened through Junior high students' presentations. Meanwhile, the following problems have emerged : (i) were their themes suitable for group activity? (ii) was the time of this project-work appropriate?, and (iii) have the instructors given enough instructions to them? Notwithstanding the above points, this project could be improved to be a part of our curriculum in the future ; it is to be desired that cultural exchange between the international students and the local community should be promoted from the next year on. |
