The free amino acids were divided into three groups as glucogenic, ketogenic and others according to their metabolic pathways. The results of the present study are summarized as follows. 1) The amounts of free ducogenic, ketogenic and other amino acids were altered unitarily with a same tendency in the tonsils and the pre-operative plasma for individual tonsillogenic focal diseases, and, depleted in the tonsils and the pre-operative plasma for chronic nephritis and accelerated blood sedimentation rate, elevated in the tonsils and the pre-operative plasma for slight fever, elevated in the tonsils and depleted in the pre-operative plasma for rheumatoid arthritis, and elevated in the pre-operative plasma and unchanged in the tonsils for Pustulosis palmaris et plantaris. 2) In relation with the provocation test for tonsils, the amounts of free glucogenic, ketogenic and other amino acids were tend to be depleted in the tonsils and the pre-operative plasma on the positive group, and tend to be elevated in the pre-operative plasma and unchanged in the tonsils on the false positive group. 3) In relation with the tonsillectomy effects for tonsillogenic focal diseases, the amounts of free glucogenic, ketogenic and other amino acids were altered in parallel with their effectiveness in the tonsils and the pre-operative plasma.
