A 29-year-old man was admitted with complaint of acute abdominal pain, and gastroscopic examination revealed a small nematode invading into the stomach wall. The worm was removed by using biopsy forceps, and identified with the third-stage larva (just prior to the third molt) of Anisakis Type 1 on the basis of morphological characters. The clinical course and morphology of the worm were described. This is the third case of anisakiasis recorded in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. |
