内容記述 | Among the courses offered in the Departments of English Education and of English Language and Culture at the University of the Ryukyus are Special Topics in English and American Literature I and II. The present essay explores how to place them in broad perspective by offering a selection of literary works in English. It refers to a variety of short stories not only by native speakers of English but also by others, including: The Brothers Grimm, Franz Kafka, Ludmilla Petrushevskaya, and such national and/or international award-winning writers of Japan as Yasunari Kawabata, Mieko Kawakami, and Haruki Murakami.
